As I learn and study on how to use my Sony A99ii DSLR for video and before I got my gimbal/steadicam, I learned how to use my camera strap as a stabilizer.
There are two different options. 1 worked really well, while the other was a bit tricky.
1st option - Put your strap around your neck and hold out your camera so the strap is tight. You don't want your strap to be too long. Make the adjustments based on your arm length and at a comfortable position for you. This method has worked really well for me and was great for panning.
2nd option - Make your strap to work like handles. Fold your strap and wrap it around your lens so you can then carry it like a purse. You want to be careful if you're using auto focus to keep your strap off of your focus ring and off the end of the lens. This method was okay, but I did have to add some stabilization to the video in edit because it was a little choppy. Maybe with better practice this method would work better.
