As I've mentioned in other blogs, if you're looking for places to visit during the fall season (or anytime of year), the Ozarks, is a great place to go. Every fall season, we take a couple trips somewhere to capture it's beauty.
For the fall season 2021 one of our trips was to Tanyard Creek in Belle Vista, Arkansas. For this one day trip, my mom came with me. I wanted to capture the waterfalls there.
Tanyard Creek Trail is a 14.5 acre park that sits just north of Lake Windsor. The main trail is 2.2 miles round trip. It's a beautiful scenic trail that runs along (can you guess?), Tanyard Creek! There are several waterfalls including the tallest that's near the lake dam area. I'm not really sure how tall it is but I'm guessing around 20 or 25 feet. Also depends on the season and if there's been a lot of rain or not.
When we got there we took the straight path to the main waterfall which is about a 1.1 mile hike from the entrance of the trail. The waterfall was beautiful. When we first got there, there wasn't too many people around so I was able to get some great photos. We were there at a hard time of day as the sun was bright and shinning over the waterfall so it did make lighting a challenge. Then several people showed up to enjoy the day so I had to work around them and wait on them but I got several angles of the falls. It can be very slick in some areas on the layers of flat rock the water was flowing over but I was able to walk down to the bottom of the falls area where the creek takes a sharp turn and runs sideways to the falls and got some great photos there. (They may not allow you to walk down in the falls area anymore but there is a lookout)
After spending a lot of time in that area, we went back towards the beginning of the trail and took the other trail option that goes over a little bridge which crosses the creek.
It is a beautiful creek that has multiple little waterfall that flow over flat rocks and curves around the rocky landscape. bluffs and trees.
Even though the colors in the trees hadn't quite kicked in yet, it was still a beautiful hike. They had more hiking trails but due to taking so many photos, we didn't get to walk them. Plus the other trails where a little more of a challenge for my mom.
If you like nature and waterfalls, you'll have to make the trip there. I'm still working on getting more photos up from there, but here's the link to see what I have up on my website: https://5-jennifer-white.pixels.com/art/tanyard
