Jennifer White • Oct 12, 2023

The Ozarks is a beautiful area to visit during the autumn colors.

Through the years of my professional photography, I have traveled to many places during the fall season in the Ozarks area as this is the area I live in. With all the National Forests in the area, Ozark Mountains, rolling hills, lakes, waterfalls and more, it will not disappoint anyone looking for some beautiful color.

There are so many places that it's hard to narrow down to my favorite and I surely can't put them in order of favorite to least favorite lol.

There are a lot of historic grist mills in the area that are all beautiful during the fall. Below are some photo examples but here's a list of mills I have been to that I recommend seeing:
1. Alley Mill nearEminence, Missouri
2. Hodgeson Mill in Dora, Missouri
3. Dillard Mill in Davisville, Missouri
4. Dawt Mill in Tecumseh, Missouri
5. Ozark Mill (now known as Finley River Mill) in Ozark, Missouri
6. Reeds Spring Mill in Centerville, Missouri
7. Edwards Mill in Hollister, Missouri
8. War Eagle Mill near Rogers, Arkansas
9. Bollinger Mill andBurfordville Covered Bridge in Burfordville, Missouri
10. Falling Spring Mill inWinona, Missouri
11. Klepzig Mill in Winona, Missouri

Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri is a massive area that has a lot of great places to visit during the fall season (this includes most of the mills listed above). In addition to the mills, here's a list of other places I've been to in Mark Twain National Forest that I recommend.

1. Big Spring in Van Buren, Missouri
2. Greer Spring inAlton, Missouri
3. Elephant Rocks State Park in Belleview, Missouri
4. Twin Bridges in West Plains, Missouri
5. Grand Gulf State Park in Thayer, Missouri
6. Blue Spring"Spring of the Summer Sky" in Ellington, Missouri

When it comes to state parks and national landmarks in the area, my favorites for fall are:

1. Ha Ha Tonka State Park in Camdenton, Missouri
2. Bennett Spring State Park near Lebanon, Missouri
3. Buffalo National River in Arkansas
4. Ozark National Mountains in Arkansas
5. Natural Falls State Park in Colcord, Oklahoma
6. Petit Jean State Park in Arkansas
7. Mammoth Spring State Park in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas

To add to my list, here are a few other random places that are a great visit during the fall.

1. Dogwood Canyon, Lampe Missouri
2. Tanyard Creek, Belle Vista, Arkansas
3. Warsaw, Missouri (Truman Dam)
4. Boxley Valley near Ponca, Arkansas (Great place to watch wild Elk fight and play during the fall)
5. Lost Valley Trail near Ponca, Arkansas
6. Ruth and Paul Henning Conservation in Branson, Missouri

As mentioned above, there ae so many great places to visit and this is just to list some of my favorites. I hope you get to check out some of these great and beautiful places here in the Ozarks. Below is a video I created showing some of these beautiful places. Enjoy!

When visiting Destin Florida to take a boat tour to learn about things to do and see wildlife.
By Jennifer White 28 Jun, 2024
While visiting Destin Florida, be sure to take a boat tour early in your trip so you can learn about sights and entertainment you may want to add to your to do or must see list. It is also a great way to see wildlife and watch dolphins jump and play in the waves from the boat ride.
