Ha Ha Tonka State park is located on the Niangua arm of the Lake of the Ozarks near Camdenton, Missouri, United States. It's is a place you don't want to miss if you're ever in the area. It's a geological wonderland featuring the remaining ruins of an historic castle, the states 12th largest spring, caves, bluffs, sink holes, a natural bridge, walking trails and more. It also has amazing aerial views of Lake Of The Ozarks from the high bluffs.
My favorite two areas of the park is the large natural spring and the Ha Ha Tonka Castle. The castles construction was a dream forRobert McClure Snyder, Sr. who purchased the land with an unbelievable vision for the castle. He started building it in 1905, but before it was completed, he was killed in a car accident in 1906. His sons Robert, Jr., LeRoy, and Kenneth Snyder completed the castle in the early 1920s. In the 1930's they started using the castle as a hotel, but then it burned down in 1942.
The beautiful spring is a greenish blue color and depending on the season and weather can be more on the blue side or green side. Native Americans called the area Ha Ha Tonka which means "laughing waters". The spring emerges from a cave and sits just below a castlewhich is visible from the spring.
The state of Missouri purchased the property in 1978 and turned the area into a state park. You can spend more than a day exploring this beautiful park. Check out some of my photos of Ha Ha Tonka here: https://5-jennifer-white.pixels.com/collections/ha+ha+tonka+state+park+in+missouri+usa
