Another one of my entries into the "Edit This" contest on Fine Art America for July 2020. They provide a photo and ask us to edit it to make it our own piece of art. They do want the original photo to be recognized in some way. They then have a contest and vote for the best design.
In this contest they provided a pretty dark photo taken of what looks like an apartment complex in Manchester England. For my editing this time, I edited the image in both Affinity Photo, Painter Essentials, and Lightroom.
This image was pretty dark and a little fuzzy so it took some thinking. I knew I wanted to do something with the sky but the tree was looking like quite the challenge. The only thing I could do was to just start in by adding in one of my night photos with stars and try to work around the tree the best I could. I also removed the lamp post light. That caused another issue because the existing tree had light on it. Not liking the look, I decided to make further changes and grabbed one of my moon shots that was already behind a tree. I made this tree replace the existing tree so the light would look better. This step took a lot of time to make it look right.
Feeling like it needed something else I added one of my Siberian Husky photos and made it look like a wolf. To help with the softness of the photo, I opened it in Painter Essentials and added some 3D texture. From there I went into Lightroom where I did my final edits. I did some light painting in the windows to make it appear as lights were on, did some fine tuning on colors and clarity, added tags, a description and it was finally done. It took me probably 3 hours to create it. These contests are always a challenge which makes it fun and helps me to learn more as I go.
Since I won 4 contests ago, I'm still not able to win for the this contest, but I can still enter them and people can still vote. I ended up in 7th place for this one which I consider a great honor!

The contest link was removed so I'm unable to share that link. I believe there was a technical error.
Can't wait for the next contest! Check back to see my next creation.
